Custom clients for Discord are 3rd-party apps that allow you to use Discord without the official app.
Developers of these have to be more careful as they have to perfectly imitate official client behavior if they do not want to be flagged/banned.
Etymology
The name of scor is derived from an image[1] of Jason Citron, the CEO and co-founder of Discord.
